* This list is not intended to be a complete discogrpahy
on which this song appears.

1 At this point it seems that everyone forgot the order
of the names at beginning of the 2nd verse. This famous
"mess up" was left in the recording because it seemed to
fit with the raucous nature of the song. The singers are
confused over the first line of the verse and sing
different lyrics over each other.

2 "Barbara Ann" was released as a single on December 20,
1965, with the B-side "Girl Don't Tell Me." The song
peaked at #2 in the U.S. and at #3 in the U.K. It was
also released on the 1965 album, Beach Boys' Party! Dean
Torrence, who had previously recorded the song as one
half of Jan and Dean, is featured on lead vocals on the
album version. Dean is not credited on the album jacket
but at the end of the track Carl says, "Thanks, Dean."

3 Fred Fassert is most famously known as the writer of
this son, which was originally written for the band that
he was in at the time, The Regents. On the Regents
version, the label reads, "Barbara Anne." Fassert wrote
the song for his sister, Barbara Anne Fassert.

4 Band members at the time of the original recording:

Brian Wilson (lead Vocals, bass),
Carl Wilson (backing vocals, lead 12-string guitar),
Dennis Wilson (backing vocals),
Mike Love (backing vocals),
Al Jardine (backing vocals, guitar),
Bruce Johnston (backing vocals) &
Dean Torrence (backing vocals-not credited on album).

5 Originally recorded and released by the Regents in
1961. Other covers:
The Beartones;
Blind Guardian;
The Bobs;
The Buffoons;
The California Project;
The Darts;
Disco Circus;
Disco Fox Girls;
Edison Lighthouse;
The Exciters;
4:2:Five;
The Hit Crew;
Jan & Dean;
Al Jardine (solo);
Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers;
The New Symphonic Orchestra;
The Red Squares;
The Rivets;
Stars at Studio 99;
The Sunny Boys;
Andy Thompson;
Dean Torrence;
The Travoltas;
The Who;
Brian Wilson (solo)
et al.

Vince Vance and the Valiants covered it with their 1980
hit song "Bomb Iran," which was set to the same tune. It
was inspired by the 1979 US/Iran hostage crisis. Fassert
was credited as the composer, although he was of Iranian
heritage and had originally refused permission when the
band, Lic, wanted to record it. A member of Lic arranged
the song and later joined Vince Vance and the Valiants.
