The Angels Biografía y The Angels Letras Información General

The Angels had actually began as the Starlets, featuring twin sisters Barbara
and Phyllis Allbut (born September 24, 1940, in Orange, New Jersey), and lead
singer Linda Jansen (born Linda Jankowski). Jansen left near the end of 1962,
and was replaced by Peggy Santiglia (born May 4, 1944, in New Jersey).

In 1963, they hooked up with the songwriting/production team of
Feldman-Goldstein-Gottehrer who wrote and produced material for the Starlets
and, after a name change, the Angels.

The Angels were best known for their 1963, #1 hit, "My Boyfriend's Back,"
which was originally cut by the girls as a demo so that the music publisher
could offer it to the Shirelles. But it turned out so well that it was
released as an Angels single.

Unfortunately, they would never make the Top 20 again, although they had
minor hits with "Thank You and Goodnight," "I Adore Him," and "Wow Wow Wee
(He's the Boy for Me)." They were good singers, but could never again get a
tune that caught on as well as "My Boyfriend's Back."

In the early '60s, they worked often as session vocalists, most notably as
backup singers on Lou Christie's "Lightnin' Strikes," and his follow-up
"Rhapsody in the Rain," and they continued to record, unsuccessfully,
through the rest of the decade.

In 1964 the Angels became the Halos, following a dispute over the ownership
of the name "The Angels." Santiglia left the group shortly thereafter and
was replaced by Toni Mason. The Halos released several more singles, none of
which charted.

In 1966 they began using the name the Angels again and released a handful of
singles as well as appearing on "The Dean Martin Show" before disbanding in 1968.

Santiglia and the two Allbut sisters regrouped in the early 1970s, as the
Angels, and released another single that did not chart.

Phyllis Allbut and Peggy Santiglia still perform as The Angels, joined
occasionally by Barbara Allbut.
