There are probably other recordings, but very rare, and not
much information is available.

1 In 1952, Buttons received his own variety series on
television, The Red Buttons Show, which ran for three years,
and achieved high levels of success. His catch phrase from the
show, "strange things are happening," entered the national
vocabulary briefly in the mid-1950s and inspired this song,
which Buttons regularly performed on the show. It is also
known as "The Ho-Ho Song."

2 Red Buttons was born Aaron Chwatt on February 5, 1919 was a
comedian, actor, and television variety-show host. In 1957 he
starred in the film, Sayonara, in which he played Joe Kelly,
an American airman stationed in Kobe, Japan during the Korean
War. In the film he falls in love with Katsumi, a Japanese
woman (played by Miyoshi Umeki), but is barred from marrying
her by military rules intended to reassure the local populace
that the U.S. presence was temporary. Both he and Umeki won
Academy Awards for the film.

3 This track is recorded from one of Buttons' live TV shows.
The audience is so familiar with the song, they are responding
to his call.

4 Remember, this was back in the early '50s when girls were
"supposed" to wear skirts and dresses.

5 Curiously, this album contains this song twice. Once as
"Strange Things are Happening, and once as, "The Ho-Ho Song."
(I will admit the CD and packaging are pretty cheesy, so I
shouldn't be so surprised about a duplicate song.)
