[Ethereal "scream."]
Da-dai. Wo-oh-oh-woh.
Well, my friends the time has come,
Raise the roof and have some fun.
Throw a-way de work to be done,
Let the music play on.
(Play on, play on, play on...)
Everybody sing, everybody dance.
Lose yourself in wild romance.
We're go'ng to party,
Karamu [2] , fiesta, forever.
Come on and sing along,
We're go'ng to party,
Karamu [2] , fiesta, forever.
Come on and sing a-long.
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
All night (all night).
All night long (all night),
Ooh, yeah (all night).
People dancing all in the street.
See the rhythm all in their feet.
Life is good, wild and sweet,
Let the music play on.
(Play on, play on, play on, play on...)
Feel it in your heart,
And feel it in your soul.
Let the music take control.
We're go'ng to party,
Liming [3] , fiesta, forever.
Come on and sing my song,
All night long (all night), ooh (all night).
All night long (all night), yeaz (all night).
All night long (all night), yeah (all night).
All night long (all night), ah (all night).
Yeah, once you get started you can't sit down.
Come join the fun, it's a merry-go-round.
Everyone's dancing their troubles away.
Come join our party, see how we play!
[Shouting.]

[2] Karamu (kah-RAH-moo) is the ritual feast of the Kwanzaa Festival,
held on December 31st, accompanied by partying and dancing.]
[3] Liming is a Trinidadian word that means to be social or to have a
good time with people, or to "hang out."]
[4] After exhaustive research, I still don't really know what this
chant means but I don't think it's gibberish. The language is Trini
(sort of an English slang used on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago).
Since the line, "Way to party o' we go'n'," is pretty easy to figure
out - "We are on our way to a party," I think that the rest of the
words have some meaning as well. For example, I was able to find a
Trinidadian dictionary that said "dey" means either "they" or "there."
So in the first line, "Tom bo li dey say dey moi, ya," I thinks the
last part of the sentence is "they say there's more, yeah." As for the
first part of the sentence, no matter how many times I say it, or how
fast I say it, or how much I try to slur it together, I can't come up
with a good "translation" from slanglish. Also, I think I have some
clue as to the words "jumba" and "jumbo." I found a definition for
"jumba" that says it refers to a spirit or a ghost and that during the
festival people wear costumes and walk on stilts as interpretations of
the spirits. Jumbo, is a word meaning, "I'm well" or "feeling good." I
was unable to find anything on the word, "jumbalai." Of course this is
all speculation, but I think it makes some sense. If anyone has any
ideas on this subject, please feel free to contact me,
