1 "Heaven" first appeared in 1983, on the sountrack album for the movie A
Night in Heaven and received substantial airplay on album-oriented rock
radio stations. It entered and reached #9 on Billboard's Rock Tracks chart
in early 1984. It was released as the third single from the album Reckless
in April 1985, and in the U.S. reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In
Canada, it reached the top twenty on the Canadian Singles Chart and
remained there for a full month. The song was also released in the U.K.,
Australia, Europe and New Zealand in 1985. In the U.K. it hit the top forty
and continued its trend as a higher-charting single when it reached the top
twenty in most of the European countries in which it charted. The music
video was shot in London, England, and was directed by Steve Barron. It
features Adams singing the song in a live concert setting; behind him,
stacked video monitors show his band playing along. Video monitors also
occupy each seat of the otherwise empty theater. The video was nominated for
an MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography.

An interesting side note: Half-way through the recording session drummer
Mickey Curry announced that he had to leave since he had committed in
advance to a Hall & Oates session and the "Heaven" recording session was
running behind schedule. Adams called Journey drummer, Steve Smith, who
happened to be in New York at the time and he filled Curry's drumming
position.
