La versión 1 de la letra

There’s a road I’d like to tell you about,  There’s a road I’d like to tell you about,
1  Lives in my hometown.   Is in my hometown 1
Lake Shore Drive the road is called,  Lake Shore Drive the road is called,
2  And it’ll take you up or down.   And it’ll take you up or down 2
3  From Ratz[1] on up to Riches,                               From rats on up to riches 15 minutes you can fly 3
1  Fifteen minutes you can fly.   1
Pretty blue lights along the way,  Pretty blue lights along the way,
4  Help you ride on by.   Help you right on by. 4
5  And the blue light’s shining with a heavenly grace,   And the blue lights shining with a heavenly grace 5
6  Help you ride on by.   Help you right on by. 6

And there ain’t no road just like it,  And there ain’t no road just like it,
7  Anywhere I’ve found.   Anywhere I’ve found 7
8  Running south on Lake Shore Drive,                       Running south on lake shore drive headed into town 8
9  Heading into town.                                                  Just snakin' on by on L.S.D. flying that troubled bownd 9
2  Just slipping on by on LSD,   2
10  Friday night trouble bound.                                                             And it starts up north from Hollywood; water on the drivin’ side 10
11                                                                      Concrete mountains rearing up those shadows just about 5 11
12  It’s starts up north from Hollywood,                                      Sometimes you can smell the green if your mind is feeling fine 12
13  Water on the driving side.                                              There ain’t no finer place to be then running Lake Shore Drive 13
14  Concrete mountains rearing up,                            And there’s no peace of mind in pace you 14
15  Throwing shadows just about five.          see riding on Lake Shore Drive 15
3  Sometimes you can smell the green,   3
4  If your mind is feeling fine.   4
5  There ain’t no finer place to be,   5
6  Then running Lake Shore Drive.   6
7  And there’s no piece of mind or place you see,   7
8  Riding on Lake Shore Drive.   8

And there ain’t no road just like it,  And there ain’t no road just like it,
16  Anywhere I’ve found.   Anywhere I’ve found 16
17  Running south on Lake Shore Drive,                       Running south on Lake Shore Drive headed into town 17
18  Heading into town.                                                  Just snaking on by on L.S.D. flying that troubled bownd 18
9  Just slipping on by on LSD,   9
19               Friday night trouble bound.            And it’s Friday night and you’re looking 19
20                                                clean, too early to start the rounds 20
21  It’s Friday night and you’re looking clean.          10 minute ride from the gold coast’s back, 21
22  Too early to start the rounds.   make sure your pleasure’s bound          22
23  A ten-minute drive from     the Gold Coast back,                                  And it’s 4 o’clock in the morning and all the people have gone away 23
24  Makes you sure you’re pleasure bound.                                                   Just you and your mind and Lake Shore Drive tomorrow is another day 24
25  And it’s four o’clock       in the morning,                                      And the sun shine fine in the morning time tomorrow is another day. 25
10  And all the people have gone away.   10
11  Just you and your mind and Lake Shore Drive,   11
12  Tomorrow is another day.   12
13  And the sun shines fine in the morning time.   13
14  Tomorrow is another day.   14
15   15

And there ain’t no road just like it,  And there ain’t no road just like it,
26  Anywhere I’ve found.   Anywhere I’ve found 26
27  Running south on Lake Shore Drive,                       Running south on Lake Shore Drive headed into town 27

22  [1]The name of the club was Ratzo's. It started out as a little tavern   22
23  on Chicago's near-north side in the early '70s. There was an open mic   23
24  policy every night, and after performing, artists passed the hat through   24
25  the audience. That's when I first saw Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah. Why   25
26  they changed the name of the club in the recording, I don't know, but it   26
27  seems a shame. Eventually, Ratzo's got all ritzy, and began serving   27
28  dinner with linen tablecloths, higher prices and paid entertainment. It   28
29  was never the same and closed down soon after the change.]   29
