1 Originally Jim Steinman, the composer, offered "Making Love Out of
Nothing at All" to Meat Loaf for his Midnight at the Lost and Found
album, however, Meat Loaf 's record company refused to pay Steinman for the
material so Steinman then offered the song to Bonnie Tyler & Air Supply, who
both recorded it. For Air Supply, the song was a #2 hit on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100. It reached #5 on the South African Singles Chart , but
peaked at #80 in the U.K. Interestingly, it was another Steinman production,
Bonnie Tyler's recording of "Total Eclipse of the Heart," that was at #1,
thus keeping "Making Love..." in the runner-up position, and Air Supply
from scoring their second #1 single in the U.S. (the first being, "The One
That You Love," in 1981).

The official video for the Air Supply version begins with a couple driving
to an airport. The male singer is leaving for "one more tour" and asks the
woman to join him. The remainder of the video intersperses the singer on
stage with a microphone and various scenes of the relationship. As the song
is sung with the band, the female is shown packing and leaving their home.
Nevertheless, she changes her mind and does a u-turn on the freeway, and
drives to the airport. She meets him at the side of the stage near the end
of the song and they embrace.

The intro to the video shows Graham Russel and his girlfriend having the
following conversation.

Graham Russell: So, won't you reconsider?
Girlfriend: So, won't you?
GR: Come with me, I can give you anything.
G: I've been there, all I want is you.
GR: But it's just one more tour, then I'll be back.
G: But I won't...I can't...

As a side note, it is Russell Hitchcock singing the song, but Graham Russell
portrays the part of the boyfriend in the video.

and Alice Cooper.

7 At the time of the recording, Weinberg was a member of Bruce
Springsteen's E-Street Band, who subsequently became leader of the
house-band for The Tonight with Conan O'Brien (1993-2009). The group
previously played under the name The Max Weinberg 7 when it was the
house-band for Late Night with Conan O'Brien (2009 and ongoing).
